Lisa brings extensive experience in virtually all aspects of communications design to our firm. She has been instrumental in building the firm’s operational base in the Portland Metropolitan Area and the Greater Kansas City region, as well as gaining and cultivating proactive relationships with clients from New York to Los Angeles. Her emphasis on high quality graphic design work and efficient, client-focused service has enabled Yulan Studio to provide on-going service to clients for more than 12 years of operation.
Additionally, Lisa’s versatility and ability to provide effective graphic design services in a broad range of media – from print to electronic to signage to display – allows Yulan Studio to provide its clients with a flexible approach to marketing communications program planning.
In addition to her work with clients, Lisa currently serves as President of the AIGA Portland Board of Directors. This professional volunteer effort follows her creation of AIGA Portland's sustainability initiative, which resulted in the creation of a variety of new Portland sustainable design events including SHIFT: A Green Salon.
Prior to launching Yulan Studio, Lisa held management and art direction positions for HNTB Corporation, as well as running her own freelance graphic design company.
While at HNTB, she served as the firm’s corporate art director. In this role, Lisa was in charge of the firm’s corporate graphic standards, and she oversaw all graphic design work within the firm’s corporate marketing department. Lisa also was a co-founder of HNTB’s New Media Group, where she served as the manager of new media design and programming services. As such, Lisa was responsible for all graphic design and interactivity programming for multimedia CD-ROMs, kiosks, web sites and supporting print materials created for HNTB and its clients.
As a freelance designer, Lisa provided art direction, design and multimedia development services for a wide variety of clients. Her work included corporate identity and logo design, the design of consumer packaging, trade show exhibits, brochures, signage and magazines, as well as the design and development of interactive multimedia kiosks.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design from the Kansas City Art Institute.
